Created at Bluefrog London for Sands.
Sands, the nations largest and most well known stillborn and neonatal deaths charity required a modern and accessible website to provide extensive information and support to bereaved parents. The site required a responsive design that would be fast and easy to use on any device whether on a laptop, mobile or tablet and for the administration area to be simple enough for the non-technical in-house team to edit and maintain.
Because of the user permission and modular approach we settled upon Drupal as the CMS system for the project and SASS, compass and foundation as frameworks for the front-end build. This combination proved to be very successful in providing the raw speed and flexibility that was required for a responsive build along with the control and power of a vast CMS.
Postcode searching for nearby Groups
Sands also wanted to improve the local support network and make it easier for bereaved parents to find local groups. We implemented a postcode search facility, which works on desktop and mobile devices, that allows visitors to search and be given a list of the nearest groups.
Administration permission and moderation
Sands wanted to improve the way they process and deliver online content with a large user base. We implemented a moderation system which controls who is allowed to publish content to the site and creates an approval process before content can be published.
Fundraising events listing and online enrollment
As well as providing support to parents Sands wanted to improve the way they fundraised for research. Sands are present as most UK charity event such as the London Marathon and the Great North Run and needed to show the available events to their supporters. We created an easy to use events section so people could search for the types of events that they wanted to do and make it easy for the supporters to register themselves.
